Brand new home-based sales role. You're experienced in technical sales, you'll live Birmingham or North & have a strong background in face to face sales & new business development. You'll have a proven track record of selling some form of technical product or instrumentation into scientific, R&D or manufacturing sectors.
 
SALARY: up to £40,000 dependant on your experience

LOCATION:Home based. Fortnightly visits to head office in the South Midlands.
 
COMMUTABLE LOCATIONS:  UK - Lancashire, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, anywhere in Northern England basically & you must be willing travel to customers North of Birmingham.
 
JOB SPECIFICATION: Sales Engineer / Technical Sales : NDT Instrumentation / equipment
 
Selling directly to end users or using channel resellers, you'll drive new business sales of NDT equipment & instrumentation largely into the concrete, metal and paper markets.
 
This is about 80/20 new business / existing account management split. There are some existing clients for you to up sell & maximise immediately. It's tough in a sales role to stay ahead of the game, so you'll need to actively monitor the market, continuously identify new opportunities, threats / risks & just stay ahead of the curve.
 
You'll be supported by a great internal team who will provide you with warm, qualified leads & help you prepare your quotes & tenders.
 
Our average order value is about £3,000 a unit. Our units range from £1,000-£20,000 as a product range. It can be quite a quick sales cycle dependant on urgency.
 
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES: Sales Engineer / Technical Sales : NDT Instrumentation / equipment
 
· With your line managers' help - you'll create your own sales plan & have a clear idea of how you'll develop new business. You'll then execute that plan.
· Competently use the CRM/SAP system for Sales reporting remotely
· Work closely with Product Managers & Application Engineers. Some of these are based in the UK & some in Mainland Europe - but they know their stuff technically & they're here to help you!
· Support Customer Services to resolve issues. You're all on the same side.
· Help to plan, organise & execute marketing activities such as trade shows, events, customer training & seminars
 
REQUIREMENTS: Sales Engineer / Technical Sales : NDT Instrumentation / equipment
 
· You'll have a proven track record of selling some form of technical product or instrumentation into the scientific, R&D or manufacturing sectors.
· You're a professional sales / business developer. This will be demonstrated on your CV. I want to see what you've achieved i.e. revenue vs targets!
· Pure Account Mangers' need not apply. You'll need to be happy with new business development, picking up the phone & booking meetings.
· You need to be prepared to travel frequently within in the UK. Your best work will be done face to face where you can demonstrate the quality of our products.
· You've ideally sold into one of the following sectors: Concrete, Construction, Metals (Foundries), Automotive, Aerospace, Paper manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Pipeline, R&D, Medical & Scientific sectors
 
An existing appreciation of Non-Destructive Test equipment & Instrumentation would really catch our eye - but isn't a deal breaker.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: An engineering or technical qualification is preferred (ONC/HNC or above) but is not essential.

It is highly likely you will have worked in any of the following roles and/or markets, and worked with the following products and/or services:  Sales Engineer, Account Manager, Application Engineer, Sales Executive, Account Executive, Business Development Executive, Field Applications Engineer, Technical Sales, Sales Manager.
